Eight primary schools and five secondary schools have been approved for works under the first round of the Summer Works Scheme.
The scheme will benefit some 2,700 students in Mayo across the 13 schools.
At a national level, the €36 million Summer Works Scheme will create 2,500 jobs over the school holiday break.
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny welcomed the announcement.
“The Summer Works Scheme is a useful and practical example of schools being able to undertake necessary works during the summer months when students are on their summer holiday,” said Mr Kenny.
