Fianna Fáil will hold a public meeting on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP ) in the Valkenburg Hotel, Ballinrobe, on Tuesday next (March 18 ) at 8.30pm.
The party’s agriculture spokesperson, Éamon Ó Cuív, is urging local farmers to attend.
The meeting will outline alternative proposals for reform of the CAP.
“There are very real concerns that the new deal penalises family farms in this region,” said Mr Ó Cuív. ”There has not been enough focus on supporting smaller farmers, ensuring a fair price from the multiples and sustaining family farms in the west of Ireland into the future.”
