Music night a fitting tribute to John Coll

A night of music is being organised in memory of John Coll, Mayo’s first arts officer, who passed away in December.

Mr Coll was a talented musician and organisers say the event will be celebration of his love of music and a fitting reflection of his musical legacy.

He was Mayo’s first arts officer, appointed in 1989. In 2000, he became the first director of Community and Enterprise in Mayo County Council.

Seisiún Ceoil takes place on Saturday, March 29, in the Welcome Inn Hotel.

Funds raised on the evening will go to Mayo Roscommon Hospice, which provided outstanding care and compassion for John and his family in the final weeks of his life.

The evening will bring together many of the bands and groups that John either played in or helped to form over a 30 year period from Crimlin to Kildare to Donegal.

Tickets, priced at €10, are available from the Arts Office, Mayo County Council. Email [email protected] or telephone (094 ) 90 47558 / (094 ) 9047471. Tickets can also be purchased on the night.
