Ballinrobe captains host drive-in this Sunday

Last weekend saw a stableford competition played over three days from Friday February 28 to Sunday March 2. The winner of the competition was Bert Eagleton with a score of 36pts. Eagleton’s back six play won the competition. Pat Kilgallon finished in second place also on 36pts, while John Parsons came home in third place on 35pts. The ladies’ competition was won by Kitty O’Connor with a score of 34pts, she finished four points in front of Rose O’Connor in second place and Julie Loftus in third place.

Ballinrobe

The final round of the ladies winter league was won by the team of Aine Melville, Carmel Sweeney, Marie Burke, and Mary Costello with a score of 54pts. Second place went to the foursome of Catherine O’Toole, Peggy Butler (lady captain ), Ann O’Reilly, and Ailish Gleeson who finished with 49pts. Third place was claimed by the team of Terry Mullan, Phyllis Lee, Brìd deBarra, and Nono Duggan with a score of 47pts.

The final gents’ alliance competition was won by James O’Gorman with a score of 83pts, John Hudson finished in second and Ray D’arcy came home in third. The birdies competition was also taken by Ray D’arcy. The Alliance Captain Prize was won by Ray Prendergast with a score of 38pts, John C Burke finished in second place and Enda Staunton finished in third place. The captain’s drive-in will take place this coming Sunday, March 9 at 11am.

Castlebar

There was a 16-hole four-ball better-ball competition for men held last weekend. The winners with a great score of 41pts were Peter Horkan and Paul Doyle. Charlie Muldoon and Martin Moylan were second, also with 41pts losing out on a count-back.

Claremorris

Last weekend’s gents’ competition was won by Martin Higgins with a score of 32pts, second place was claimed by Gerry Kilkenny who finished one point behind. The ladies’ competition was won by Patricia Prendergast with a score of 25pts.
