World renowned country music singer and songwriter, Max T Barnes, who has written and published 22 number hits in America, is in Mayo.
Son of country legend Max D Barnes, he is to play in the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, on March 16, with special guest Craig Curtis, a new Nashville country star.
Barnes wrote his first hit song - Vern Gosdin’s ‘Way Down Deep’ - at the age of 19 and has been topping the charts ever since with hits like ‘Let Go of the Stone’ by John Anderson, ‘At the Sound of the Tone’ by Dukes of Hazard’s John Schneider, and ‘Before You Kill Us All’ by Randy Travis.
He has written songs on albums that have sold more than 20 million records and currently writes for Ray Stevens Music publishing.
He is now touring Ireland. “I have spent my life writing songs for other folks,” said Barnes. “Now I want to go sing them for the people without the middle man.”
Barnes visited the Westport studios of Irish TV last week.
He told them he was “thrilled” to visit Ireland. “I am really excited about this Irish tour. We are playing gigs all over the country and I am looking forward to meeting new friends and having fun along the way. I am coming over with a great partner in Craig Curtis, who is a great singer and showman, so we cannot wait to put on a good show for all our Irish fans.”
Irish TV presenter Aisling Carragher was delighted to welcome the country duo to Ireland. “It’s an honour to have one of country music’s greatest songwriters visit us here at Irish TV. Max and his dad have an iconic status in country music and their songs will be well-known to country music fans. I think the Irish audiences will really enjoy Max and Craig’s upcoming Irish tour.”
The special TV feature on Max T Barnes will be broadcast on SKY TV channel 191/Freesat 400 and online on Irishtv.ie shortly.
