A young singer/songwriter from Kildare is stopping off in Ballyhaunis on a novel music tour of Ireland to pedal-up some publicity for his debut album.
David Burke is cycling 2,000 kilometres around 32 counties, playing 32 gigs in 32 days to promote Where Colours Swim, an album described by Hot Press Magazine as “melodic and catchy with memorable choruses and impressive arrangements”.
The former law student turned music man brings his brand of “accoustic soul pop” as well as some popular covers to Mac’s Bar, Ballyhaunis, at 10pm, on Friday March 14.
Where Colours Swim was a number one selling singer/songwriter album on iTunes Ireland and the album was chosen by RTÉ Radio as an ‘Album of the Week’.
It was recorded in Wales, England, and Ireland. Burke wrote some of the music using the same piano Freddie Mercury played during the Bohemian Rhapsody sessions and recorded four songs with the string orchestra and players from Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black album.
He also teamed up with top producers Robert Bechirian - who has worked with Elvis Costello and Bell X1 - and Adam Kyiman, who worked with Eagle Eye Cherry on their huge 90s hit ‘Save Tonight’.
