Some of Ireland’s top chefs be cooking up a storm at this year’s Westport Festival of Music and Food.
The Food & Wine Magazine Village, hosted by Norah Casey, will see culinary demonstrations over two days at the boutique festival in the grounds of Westport House on June 28 and 29.
The Chef’s Kitchen was one of the festival highlights last year.
This year, the chef line-up includes Rachel Allen, Clodagh McKenna, Darina Allen, Neven Maguire, Ross Lewis of Chapter One, Derry Clarke from L’Ecrivian, Noel McMeel from Lough Erne Resort, Knockranny House’s Seamus Commons and Frankie Mallon from An Port Mor, Westport.
Westport Festival foodies will be able to watch Ireland’s most talented chefs create some of their favourite recipes and pick up some handy tips, nibble on some delicious samples, and learn their kitchen secrets.
Comedy
Meanwhile, US comedian Rich Hall has also joined the line-up for the comedy tent. Perhaps best-known for his appearances on Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week and as a guest on popular tv shows QI, Have I Got News For You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Hall is a former Perrier Comedy Award winner at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
On the music front, five-piece vocal harmony group The Overtones has also been confirmed. Formed in London in 2010, their debut album Good Ol’ Fashioned Love entered the UK album charts at number 16 that year and went to number four when it was re-released in March 2011.
David Gray, Sinead O’Connor and Bryan Adams are headline acts and other acts include Kool & The Gang, The Divine Comedy, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Kila and the Ukulele Orchestra.
