Special Olympics table quiz
Special Olympics Kayak Club Castlebar, are hosting a table quiz in Bosh, Castlebar on Wednesday, March 5 to raise funds to bring the athletes to the national qualifiers for the 2015 LA World Games. Tables of four cost €40 and it will start at 9pm sharp.
Cancer support service in Ballina
Mayo Cancer Support Association has expanded its services in Ballina and is now open in the Ballina Family Resource Centre, every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 4pm. On offer will be a confidential drop-in and listening service, counselling, and therapies. All services are free to people with cancer, their families, and friends. The Ballina Family Resource Centre parent and toddler group meets every Thursday from 10.30am to 12 noon. If you are a parent, grandparent, or childminder and want somewhere safe to bring your child and interact with other children or to enjoy a chat with other parents why not drop in. Scoil Naomh Bhríde 25 card drive tonight
Scoil Naomh Bhríde, Ballycroy, will hold its rescheduled annual 25 card drive (partners ) tonight Friday February 28 in the Ballycroy Community Centre. Doors open at 8.30pm. Tickets are €10 per person, tickets bought for the previous date are valid on the night. Refreshments will be served.

Clare Island Drama Group
Clare Island Drama group presents Done Deal on Friday March 14 in the Clare Island Community Centre at 8pm. Done Deal is a three-act comedy drama set at the height of the property boom in Ireland in 2006. Written by Achill man Marten Ó’Mongán and directed by Noel Clarke this show promises to be full of laughs.

Fund-raising pamper day
Peter Mark and Ultafit Studio have organised a pamper day for women on Sunday March 9 at Ultrafit Studios, Unit 7/8 Moneen Industrial Estate, Castlebar. The pamper day will be offering blowdrys, brush ups, curls, make-up, alternative therapies, dream analysis, peppermint jewellery, finger food, and face painting.

Anam Cara bereavement information evening
Anam Cara, the national organisation that provides support services to bereaved parents and families, is hosting a bereavement information evening in the Family Centre, Chapel Street, Castlebar, on Wednesday March 19 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. This event gives parents an opportunity to hear an experienced bereavement professional talk about the many challenges families have to face into after the death of their son or daughter. Please note this event is open to all bereaved parents, regardless of the age of their child or the circumstances of their death. It is also holding a bereavement information evening on Monday March 10 with guest speaker Dr Helen Greally and the topic for the evening is “Coping as a Bereaved Parent”. Helen Greally is a clinical psychologist and she works as director of psychology and support services at Cancer Care West.

Mayo North East with funding from the Local and Community Development Programme has organised the delivery of a number of training courses for job seekers in the Erris region for 2014. Included are horticulture, IT, digital marketing (social media ), tourism, waitressing skills, writing content for the web, and SAGE book-keeping/payroll. A parent’s guide to surviving exams
An information talk for Parents of all second level students in particular exam students will take place on Wednesday, March 5 from 8pm to 9.30pm in Cúram Family Centre, Claremorris. The talk will be an opportunity for all second level parents to gain practical advice on what Parents can do to support their child through the exam period and will cover the areas of managing stress, promoting positive well-being and nutritional advice. Claremorris Family Resource Centre has announced that it is moving to a new premises on Mount Street, Claremorris, next week. To facilitate this move, the centre on James Street will be closed for a short time until it opens in the new premises in early March.
