Mayo food delights on show

The best of Mayo’s food produce will be showcased at a fundraising event by the Chefs of Mayo on Thursday March 6, in Breaffy House Hotel.

Two well-known local personalities will also go head-to-head in a culinary battle to raise money for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

The event is in support of the Cape Cod Sponsored Walk, which is now its 15th year and has raised more than €850,000 for local hospice services.

The night will see Barry Ralph, head chef in the Bay Leaf Restaurant, Turlough, Flame Pop Up Restaurant, and the Flo Gas Mayo Master Chef 2013, put on a cookery demonstration which will showcase the best of Mayo food produce and how cooking enthusiasts can get the best from these ingredients.

The kitchen will heat-up when Angelina Nugent from Mid West Radio and Mick Byrne from Byrnes Pub, Castlebar, do battle in a culinary challenge, set by the Chefs of Mayo.

The Chefs of Mayo will also prepare a buffet for the audience to sample.

Tommy Marren from MidWest Radio will host the night. Dan O’Donoghue will also bring a little magic to the event.

Tickets cost €25 and will be available in the Hospice Shops in Castlebar, Ballina, Swinford, and Ballinrobe. Tickets also available from hospice head office by phoning (094 ) 9388666.
