Young Mayo artists want to doodle for Google

Two young doodlers from Mayo are bidding for huge national exposure for their adventurous sketches.

Cian Mangan, from Hollymount, and Amy Coyle from Inbhear, are among 75 national finalists still in the running in the Doodle4Google competition, the overall winner of which will have his/her doodle displayed for a day on the homepage of Ireland’s biggest search engine - Google.ie

The doodlers were tasked with sketching their dream adveture.

Five-year-old Cian described his doodle, titled ‘Diving for fun under the sea’ as a sketch of his search “for magical adventures under the sea with turtles, submarines, my diving suit with ship wrecks to see and sharks to avoid.”

Amy, in the third to sixth class category, described her sketch as “historic towers, speedy monster-trucks, slippery water-slides, amazing adventure parks and curious children.”

The winning doodle prize package includes a €5,000 college scholarship and a €10,000 technology grant for their school.

The Mayo public can get behind the Mayo entries in their Doodle4Google bids by voting at www.google.ie/doodle4google

Cian’s underwater adventure is in the Group 1 category while Amy’s imaginative theme park is in Group 3. Voting is open until March 10.
