In last weekend’s ladies’ nine-hole competition, Aine Melville was the winner with a score of 17pts. She finished just in front of Ann Treacy who took second place on the day.
Ballyhaunis
Last weekend’s competition was sponsored by Inishowen Engineering. The gents’ competition was won by Christy Nicholson who shot 39pts to take the win, thanks to his back nine play. JP Kelly finished in second place after also finishing on 39pts, with Tony Cribbin taking the third place prize. The ladies’ competition was claimed by Marietta Potgieter, with a score of 36pts, Norrie Dillon finished in second place and Jason Meehan was the winner of the junior section.
Castlebar
The best score recorded this weekend in the men’s Winter League was David Molloy’s team with 83pts. His team consisted of David, John O’Sullivan, Alan Weiler and Tommy O’Malley. In second place were Tom Cresham’s team with 82pts, Charlie Muldoon’s team were third with 81pts and Jerry Kings team were fourth with 78pts. The best single score came from the in-form John Kelly with a score of 36pts. With only two rounds left Frank Murray leads the Winter League singles championship with a best six scores total of 210pts. Hot on his heels in second is John McHale with 209pts. John Kelly, Shane Rice and David Molloy all lie in joint fourth place with a best six total of 207pts. In the ladies’ Spring League Anne O’Sullivan led the way with 27 pts. Sheila Baynes was second, Bernie Burke was third and Pauline O’Donoghue was fourth all finishing with 26 pts, the positions being decided on count-backs.
Claremorris
Last weekend was round two of the Spring League in Claremorris and Kevin Reilly was the winner with a score of 34pts, Tom Boyle finished in second place after scoring 33pts. The ladies’ competition was won by Yvonne Oldham with a score of 30pts.
Westport
Last weekend’s competition was a gents’ 15 hole stableford competition. It was won by Liam Murray with a score of 37pts. Padraic Corcoran finished in second place after also finishing with a score of 37pts. Next Sunday’s competition will also be a 15 hole stableford event.
