A Claremorris man who was sent forward for trial to the circuit criminal court on criminal damage and theft charges was remanded in custody until the trial this week. Tomas Kuksta was served with the book of evidence against him before the sitting of Castlebar District Court on Tuesday morning last.
Kuksta was charged with one count of criminal damage and another count under the theft and fraud act at Mount Saint Michael Secondary School, Claremorris, between February 26 2013 and February 27 2013.
Gardai objected to bail for Kuksta because he had failed to comply with the bail conditions that were already imposed on him. Garda John Monaghan gave evidence of Kuksta signing on in Claremorris Garda Station on five occasions later than a curfew that was part of his conditions. He also gave evidence of four occasions that gardai saw Kuksta out after his curfew and of Kuksta being in an intoxicated state on a number of occasions.
Judge Mary Devins refused bail and remanded him in custody to appear before a special sitting of Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court on Friday April 4.
