Action returning to Mayo clubs

Ballina

In the recent 12 hole stableford competition, John Horgan was the winner with a score of 33pts while Richard Doherty finished in second place. In the seniors’ competition, Pearse Forde was the winner on 39pts with Dennis Bourke finishing in second place. The Spring League swung into action last weekend, but there is still time for players to get involved. Call 096 21050 for more information.

Castlebar

In last weekend’s 15 hole scramble competition the foursome of Darren Greaney, Brendan Killion, Pat Ryan, and Kevin Leonard won with a score of 45.6 nett. Second place went to Ken Irwin, Pat McDonnell, James Jennings, and Mick Kilcourse.

Claremorris

The south Mayo club had a 13 hole competition last weekend which was won by Martin Higgins with a score of 32pts. Higgins’ back nine play kept him just in front of James Prendergast in second place. The club Spring League starts this weekend. Claremorris Golf club will hold an information evening in the clubhouse for members and prospective new members on this Sunday February 9, at 5.30pm. All are welcome to attend and learn of the fine facilities Claremorris Golf club has to offer

Westport

The draw for the matchplay stages of the winter league has been posted on the notice board in the gents’ locker room. First round matches must be played on or before Sunday February 16. Due to the inclement weather, all teams who have reached the matchplay stages are encouraged to arrange their respective matches as soon as possible. Next Sunday's gents’ competition is a 15 hole single stableford event.
