Festival celebrating rural life returns to Turlough

Féile na Tuaithe, the Turlough family festival celebrating rural life, is returning this summer after a gap of three years.

The festival previously attracted some 20,000 visitors over two days when it was last held in 2011.

This year's festival will take place in the grounds of the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Turlough House, Castlebar, on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25.

Mayo county manager Peter Hynes welcomed the return of the festival.

“We look forward to working with the National Museum of Ireland and all of the other stakeholders to make this a significant success which will become an annual feature in the national calendar,” he said.
