Two more Mayo singers look to see if they have the voice

Following the success of Belmullet’s Malachy Gaughan in getting picked by The Voice of Ireland judge Jamelia on last Sunday night’s TV show, two more Mayo singers are hoping to make the cut this Sunday night.

Thirty-three-year-old Paula Finnerty had a taste of what the music business was like in the past, having being picked to be part of girl-group Bellfire by Louis Walsh in 1999, but after touring with the group as a support act for Boyzone she left it. She also had a publishing deal in Nashville and she is hoping that her version of Pink’s “Who Knew” will show that she has the voice.

David O’Regan will be hoping his version of Bill Wither’s “Just the Two of Us” will be enough to impress the judges. David is a full time musician who gigs four to five times a week and is well known in the likes of Matt Molloys and Heneghan’s in Westport where he performs regularly.

Last Sunday Gaughan’s version of TLC’s “No Scrub” was the song to catch Jamelia’s ear, both Mayo hopefuls will be hoping to do the same this Sunday.
