Two Mayo women were among 90 workers honoured for their dedication at the 2014 Going the Extra Mile (GEM ) Awards, last Friday. GEM Awards recognise the valuable contribution of employees involved in workplace supports such as cleaning, catering, security, pest control, and property services.
Noleen Doyle from Castlebar and Anna Wroblewska, originally from Poland but living in Ballina, were among those who were honoured. Noleen, who is married with one daughter, works in Mayo General Hospital. She impressed the awards panel with her friendly and courteous manner in interacting with the public and her high level of performance and work attitude. All of the staff at the hospital hold her in very high esteem. Anna, who works in Ballina District Hospital impressed the awards panel with her friendly and courteous manner in interacting with the public and her high level of performance and work attitude. She was described by colleagues as a natural leader who is very calm and very popular with follow workers and hospital staff.
