Two week theatre taster course starting tomorrow

Give your child a confidence boost in 2014. The two week taster sessions at Stagecoach Mayo for the spring term start this Saturday January 18. Stagecoach Mayo, part of the world's largest theatre school network, has announced a two week taster session for new children this Saturday at 10am in Sacred Heart School, Westport. The schools, which are complementary, yet independent of normal academic study, train children and teenagers in quality classes each week in dance, drama, and singing.

Each centre recruits a total of 45 students, divided by age into three groups of 15. For the first hour, one group learns to dance, the second to sing, and the third to act. When the hour is up groups rotate. All groups are trained by experienced teachers who are professional choreographers, performers, directors, and musicians.

Principal Eliz Lucey said: "We had a wonderful first day back with lots of excited children, parents, and teachers, so 2014 promises to be even better. Taster sessions cost €70 for six classes and give students a chance to try the school and see if they enjoy it before joining us.

"If a child leaves after two weeks no fees are owed, and if they join our school, we also have a new family payment plan to ease any impact on family budgets at this time of year,” she added.
