Knock Counselling Centre hosted a successful seminar with broadcaster, author, and columnist and presenter, David Coleman as part of its increase in services to families and young people. The seminar entitled Effective Communication with Children and Teenagers, took place in front of a packed audience at St John’s Rest and Care Centre, Knock Shrine, and was followed by an extended question and answer session.
Fiona McCarthy, director of Knock Counselling Centre, was encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by those who attended. “The feedback we have received from participants who attended the seminar has been very positive. As a counselling centre, we aim to help support families and will continue to look at innovative ways to support people in doing what is arguably the most challenging job in the world; parenting and family life.”
The event was organised in response to a recent survey by Knock Counselling Centre which indicates that there is a 63 per cent increase in demand for guidance and support services for young people. Knock Counselling Centre has also increased its guidance and support service for young people. The service aims to provide a safe supportive and confidential space to help young people to address difficulties they may be experiencing at home, in school, or in relationships.
