Cloonliffen NS School Musical

It was a wet and wild Sunday night and a storm was brewing up outside. Inside however, it was a different story, a magical one at that. The final pieces of Cloonliffen’s Magical Christmas Jigsaw were coming together. This was it. This was the first time the whole school had come together to perform a musical as one. Lights at the ready, microphones at the ready, but alas, they had to wait for that last flash of lightning before the annual Cloonliffen show could begin.

And what a show it was. From cheeky stall holders to menacing soldiers, innkeepers to narky Nazarenes, cute chicks and mice, the most angelic of angels, shepherds, kings, five modern children, and in the leading role, Maeve Bradley as the gold Angel.

There were fantastic performances from everybody involved and the acting ability, singing, and music playing could only be described as outstanding. For a show that lasted over an hour with numerous sets, seven scenes, and 14 songs, the standing ovation at the end was much appreciated. There were tears of laughter and joy as the boys and girls rhymed off lines and were pitch perfect, they rolled up and brought down a packed house of 260 people.

In her speech, Mrs Egan thanked all the parents for their support and co-operation and especially the Parents’ Association for running the front of house and superb raffle on the night. She also thanked musical director Daithí Ryder as well as the class teachers.
