Legendary Galway singer Sean Keane returns to Mayo for one night only this Christmas to perform with the highly acclaimed traditional music and dance show The Legend of Gráinne Mhaol on Sunday, December 29, at Hotel Westport. Labelled “the greatest Irish musical find of the 90s” Sean Keane has toured the world extensively over the past 20 years performing to sell-out audiences across Europe and America.
Sean said; “I am really looking forward to my visit to Mayo on December 29 to join the Gráinne Mhaol Show at Hotel Westport as Mayo people really appreciate and understand their music and singing. If last year’s sold out show is anything to go by, then it is going to be a super night of entertainment,”
Growing up in a house that was a scene of pilgrimage for musicians and singers with his two aunts Rita and Sarah Keane, the Caherlistrane man’s talent and love of singing flourished at a young age. Keane performed at his first Fleadh Cheoil at the age of seven and then went on to win no fewer than 13 All-Ireland medals in succession.
Sean was a founding member of the traditional group Arcady and he has performed alongside his sister Dolores, accordionist Máirtín O'Connor, Sharon Shannon, and Frances Black over the years.
Gráinne Mhaol Show producer Pierce O’Reilly said: “This year’s Gráinne Mhaol Christmas Concert at Hotel Westport on December 29 is going to be an absolute cracker. We are absolutely thrilled that Sean Keane will be joining us on the night as his musical repertoire is recognised the world over. 2013 has been a phenomenal year for Sean with sold-out tours in the UK and America and we are just thrilled that he is available to come to Mayo for this once off performance.” Tickets for this once-off special concert with special guest Sean Keane cost €30 and can be purchased from Hotel Westport at 098 25122.
