SPAR Ballindine has scooped silver in the national award for Stores Less than 2,000 sq ft at the 2013 shelf life C-Store Awards held in Dublin recently, setting it apart from hundreds of local convenience store entrants across Ireland.
Receiving the award, store owner Danny McHugh said “We’re delighted to accept this award because it provides valuable recognition from the industry experts that our business is best in class and validates the wonderful work of our staff. This win gives us even more inspiration to aim higher and continue to improve the shopping experience for our customers.”
Congratulating the store was Willie O’Byrne, managing director, BWG Foods (owners and operators of the SPAR brand in Ireland ): “We would like to extend our congratulations to the team at SPAR Ballindine on winning this national title. It is their constant pursuit of perfection that sets them apart from their peers in a marketplace which is already internationally recognised as setting the standards in convenience retailing. The store and staff are very deserving of this industry accolade and they are great champions for the SPAR brand.” The shelf life awards, now in their 13th year, were established to acknowledge stores and individuals that set the standards for the industry.
The store, which employs 55 people, is open 7am to midnight, seven days a week. The store is part of a group of three Supermac’s outlets at Ballinrobe, Ballindine, and Claremorris employing a total of 100 people, who won a national local marketing award this year and also a winner in the Best Food to Go awards in Irelands Forecourt and Convenience Awards 2011.
