New Mayo website to encourage looking after our mental health

A Mindful Moment: Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on. This is one example of the many inspirational quotes and pictures to view on the new Mayo Be Well website www.mayobewell.org

The website was developed by the Mayo Suicide Prevention Alliance, a group which first formed in Mayo in 2009. The alliance represents a coming together of many voluntary, community, and statutory groups which have been involved in mental health promotion and suicide prevention initiatives in Mayo.

By working in partnership, Mayo Suicide Prevention Alliance aims to highlight and promote the good work that continues across the county. The website will continue to educate us all on the importance of looking after our mental health and wellbeing; provide useful information and resource material on commonly asked questions such as parenting, mental health issues, bereavement support and many other issues, and describe and provide contact details for a range of support services in Mayo and beyond, including the directory of Mental Health Support Services launched in September 2013.

Speaking on behalf of the Mayo Suicide Prevention Alliance, Mary O’Sullivan, HSE West, said, “We want this website to be of practical help and support to our viewers. We also want to make it easier for people to access commonly sought information by having it available on one website.”
