James Lavin was the winner of the gents’ stableford competition last weekend, with a score of 38pts. Bernie O’Connor finished in second place and James Waldron took third place. In the ladies’ competition, Geraldine O’Malley was the winner with a score of 33pts. She finished ahead of Louise McMahon in second and Patricia Larkin in third place.
Ballinrobe
The gents’ 15 hole turkey competition last weekend was won by Michael McManamon with a score of 39pts, Ger Fahy finished in second spot and Peter Flaherty came home in third place. The birdie winner was Justin Keady, who hit three birdies over his round.
Ballyhaunis
The gents’ hamper competition was won by Alex Eaton with a score of 44pts. He held off Derek Walsh in second place, thanks to his back nine scoring after he also finished on 44pts, with Emmet Keane coming home in third place. The ladies’ competition was won by Norrie Dillon with Claire Lannon finishing in second place. Andrew Hickey won the junior competition.
Castlebar
Round six of the Winter league was played over the weekend. With the weather turning a tad nasty on Sunday, scoring conditions were a bit trickier than previous rounds. The best score was recorded by Paddy Kenny’s team with an excellent 80pts. The teams of Michael Heneghan and Tom Moylett both had 79 points with Tony Reilly’s team next on 78pts. In the 15 Hole Singles competition Ray Prendergast was the winner with a super 39pts.
The weekend competition for ladies was The Daily Mail Scotch Foursomes qualifier. First with a great score of 43pts was the in-form Lady Captain, Dolores Towey who was ably partnered by Evelyn Duggan. Bernie Burke and Christine Gordon were second with 43pts, and Carmel Connaughton and Marian Martyn were third with 42pts.
Westport
Paddy Donohue was the winner of the gents’ 15-hole competition with a score of 33pts, with Pat Flemming finishing in second place one point behind with 32pts. The final gents’ prize presentation of the year will take place on Sunday, December 15 at 5pm. All outstanding winter league and hamper prizes will be presented.
