All Iarnród Éireann stations in Mayo have now been ticket vending machines. Machines were installed and commissioned at Westport, Ballyhaunis, Claremorris, Castlebar, and Ballina in recent weeks to complete the availability of ticket vending machines at stations in the county.
The provision of ticket vending machines at these locations means that tickets can be purchased while the station is unmanned. It also ensures that those with online reservations from irishrail.ie, where lowest rail fares are available if booked seven or more days in advance, can print their tickets from the machine. Mayo to Dublin rail fares are available from €14.99 each way online.
Ticket vending machines are being installed as part of a wider capital investment to provide the facility across the network. The move will also assist with revenue protection as customers must have a ticket either from the booking office or ticket vending machine before boarding the train.
