Health Care Informed (HCI ), based in Galway, has announced the appointment of its director John Sweeney, who is from Castlebar, to the board of The International Society for the Quality in Health Care (ISQua ).
ISQua, a global body with five of the six continents represented on the organisation’s board, aims to inspire, promote, and support continuous improvement in the safety and quality of healthcare worldwide.
Health Care Informed, an outsource organisation specialising in helping healthcare organisations reach outstanding standards in healthcare and regulatory compliance, employs more than 20 people in the west of Ireland. It is the only company of its kind in Ireland and has an extensive list of clients which include some 40 hospitals such as the Blackrock Clinic, Dublin, Galway University Hospital, Bon Secours Hospital in Tralee, in excess of 70 nursing homes around the country, and a number of disability services organisations, home care service organisations, medical laboratories, and medical transport services.
Mr Sweeney’s appointment to the board of ISQua is recognition of his role at HCI. HCI provides regulatory compliance, accreditation, risk management, and quality improvement services to healthcare organisations which focus on quality and patient safety in Ireland, the UK, Australia and the Middle East.
Commenting on his appointment to the board of ISQua, Mr Sweeney said; “I am honoured to be one of the few people to have the opportunity to share their experience on the board of The International Society for the Quality in Health Care. This is an exciting role and one which I hope to make a positive contribution to.”
Mr Sweeney’s role on the board of ISQua will involve using his experience and expertise in regulation, risk management, and quality improvement in the healthcare sector to assist with technical and policy advice with some of ISQua key partners.
Mr Sweeney established HCI, in 2005 and has sat on the advisory committee of the European Forum for Quality in Healthcare, represented Ireland on the EU ExPeRt Project, and is currently an advisor to the supreme council for health regulation in Qatar.
Prior to establishing HCI, Mr Sweeney, a graduate of NUI Galway, served as director of research and development with the Irish Health Service Accreditation Board.
