A man who was found in possession of €16 worth of cannabis was before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday
On March 20 2013, gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle at Ballyheane.
Thomas Woods, Tooreen, Kilmaine, was found with cannabis in his rear pocket.
The defendant has two previous convictions for drugs.
The father of two, who is a musician and bike mechanic said that someone gave him the cannabis at a party.
Judge Mary Devins asked that a community service assessment report be prepared and if suitable Woods would complete 100 hours of community service in lieu of three months in prison.
