Ireland West Airport Knock experienced the busiest month of October in their 28 year history with more than 62,000 passengers passing through the airport last month.
Some 46,000 passengers travelled on flights to and from the UK in October, a six per cent increase on the same period in 2012 and the seventh consecutive month of passenger growth from the UK market.
October also saw a significant increase in passenger numbers travelling to and from popular European sun and city break destinations, with numbers increasing by 18 per cent, with 16,000 passengers travelling to and from destinations such as Barcelona, Milan, Malaga, Tenerife, and Faro.
October proved to be an important month for the airport and the region as Ryanair announced three new services to Eindhoven in Holland, Glasgow in Scotland, and Kaunas in Lithuania, to start in April 2014, following the recent reduction of the Government travel tax from €3 to €0. These new services combined with an additional 60,000 new seats on existing London services will see the airport break through the 700,000 passenger mark in 2014 – another milestone for the airport.
