Mayo’s big band for young musicians… will you be part of it?

Music Generation Mayo is delighted to offer the latest opportunity in its musician-in-residence series, The Kaleidoscope Big Band, which will be facilitated by Mayo saxophonist and composer Dennis Wyers and the Rhombus Quintet.

Early 2014, and as the New Year’s dust starts to settle, up to 30 bright young musicians will be developing their musical concepts as a group, honing their compositional skills, and preparing for a very special concert. The young musicians will write all the music themselves, attending workshops along the way on topics like composition, melody, rhythm, chords, and harmony, and they will see their own pieces develop from musical concepts right through to the concert performance.

Are you aged 12-18? Do you play an instrument or sing? Music Generation Mayo is looking for all instruments, all genres, any music as long as it is good and you really love to play it. Do you think you would like to get involved?

Auditions for places as part of the Music Generation Mayo - Kaleidoscope Big Band will take place shortly and the project will run from January to April 2014. Full details and application forms are available online at www.musicgenerationmayo.ie or call 09490 24188. The deadline for applying is Friday November 22.
