Inspirational stories of courage and bravery were heard at the Maternity & Infant Awards 2013 in association with Gaviscon Extra, which were held recently. The awards celebrated inspiring individuals who have touched the lives of those around them, while also recognising the leading maternity products and services tested by real mums and dads.
Ballyglass Community Childcare was the winner of the Best Community Crèche. The adjudicators were impressed with both the physical and learning environments: “Rooms are laid out in such a way that babies and children are encouraged and supported to become independent and competent learners. Children are supported by a staff team who are respectful and who get to know the children who are entrusted into their care intimately.”
Ballyglass Community Childcare Service opened in 1981 as a playschool based in the community centre in Ballyglass. It was run with one member of staff and volunteer parents. The playschool has run successfully ever since, with the introduction of an after-school service in 2005, and now includes summer camp. The award winning purpose built facility opened in September 2009, offering a full range of services from four months to 12 years. Situated at the rear of Mountpleasant National School, Ballyglass, Claremorris Ballyglass Community Childcare Centre caters for babies, toddlers, playschool, preschool, and after school children.
