Man stole cider from delivery van

A man was before Castlebar District Court this week for the theft of a case of cider from the back of a delivery van.

On September 6 2012 at 9.15am a delivery van driver pulled up on New Antrim Street to make a delivery of alcohlol.

Two men were watching him and he as walked up an alleyway towards the bar the men jumped into the back of the van and took €23 worth of Bulmers.

A passer-by saw the incident and gave chase. The property was handed over and the men ran off.

Kevin Cashin, 9 Rathbawn Grove, Castlebar, was one of the two men.

The 21-year-old had an alcohol problem at the time.

Cashin has been in custody on remand since October 2. Judge MaryDevins convicted and sentenced him to 28 days in prison dating back to October 2.
