Clodagh McKenna cooked up an evening of Christmas delight

Celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna enchanted Horkans Garden and Lifestyle Centre Turlough Castlebar on Wednesday October 30. Some 300 people turned up to support the Mayo Pink Ribbon Society for an evening of Christmas wonders, which raised around €8,000 for breast cancer research.

Horkans really set the scene for a magical night with roasted chestnuts at the door and a delicious mulled wine reception, brewed from McKenna’s own recipe. The chef and staff from the Bay Leaf restaurant were on hand to serve sumptuous canapés, also from McKenna’s recipe book.

The Ballymaloe chef created some of her personal dishes from her new book Clodagh`s Kitchen Diaries, providing some helpful tips and ideas for the perfect Christmas dinner. She took time to answer questions and tell a few stories while demonstrating her cookery skills. The Cork TV personality held a book signing, and stayed around to take lots of photos.

The prizes donated by local companies were raffled off with the help of MidWest Radio’s Tommy Marren.

Horkans Christmas store is now open 9am to 6pm, seven days a week. See Horkans.ie or check out its Facebook page, facebook.com/horkanslifestyleandgarden
