A Ballyhaunis man was convicted and fined in his absence after he was found guilty at Ballyhaunis District Court of being intoxicated in a public place.
Garda Nicola Dolan told the court that she was on duty on Upper Main Street, Ballyhaunis, on May 26 2013 at 1.45pm when she found John McDonagh, 45 Tooraree, Ballyhaunis, who was asleep on the footpath. He was in an extremely intoxicated state at the time and she arrested him. She told the court that gardai brought McDonagh home and a fixed charge notice was issued, but never paid. Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined McDonagh €75 in his absence.
