Mullin’s Londis is a family run business which has been providing a diverse and quality service to its local community of Shrule for decades.
With a long and rich history behind it, Mullin’s Londis supermarket was established by Michael Mullin on May 2 1947. He was joined in the business by his son Frank Mullin, and shortly after the business expanded and developed into the major store it is today.
Although Frank Mullin is still involved in the running of the store, his son Colm and his wife Mary Clare became involved in the business, with Colm having amassed an impressive 30 years of service ensuring the excellent reputation of the business has lived on.
The core staff members of the Mullin’s Londis extended family are locally-based people who have remained a part of the team for many years, and in the process have vast levels of experience in customer service. Delia O’Neill and Freda Gray have 40 years and 31 years experience respectively, Joe Hynes has been an employee for more than 14 years, while Anne Hughes and Kay Hughes have been a part of the team for 11 years.
Mullins Londis is a very unique store with a very different approach in comparison to today’s business world. The store could be described as a ‘country shop’, with its products including hardware, fuel, electrical appliances and equipment, toys, stationary, and furniture as well as a modern fully-stocked supermarket. The business has a responsibility to its customer base to provide a diverse range of products and services for its local community.
The store also provides a very successful loyalty card system, in place to acknowledge and reward its customers and community. “It is our local support that keeps us alive and has been vital to keep us in business especially in these recent tough economic times,” says Colm Mullin, current owner and proprietor. Mullin’s Londis has grown from strength to strength over the years and we are determined to keep going long into the future.”
