Ring announces golf tourism conference to take place in Westport next year

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring, announced this week at Killarney at the 2013 Gala Irish Golf Awards, that the location for the 17th National Golf Tourism Conference and 2014 Gala Irish Golf Awards will be Westport, in association with Fáilte Ireland and the 2014 tourism initiative the Wild Atlantic Way.

Minister Ring said: “I am very pleased to announce that the 17th National Golf Tourism Conference and the 2014 Gala Irish Golf Awards will take place in Westport, from Saturday, August 18 to Monday, August 20. The bid to host these events was managed by Mayo County Council and I wish to thank the county council and all involved in preparing the bid for their work. I am sure everyone enjoyed the hospitality and scenery here in County Kerry. You may think it will be difficult for next year’s conference and awards to surpass this year’s event, but I have no doubt that you will enjoy all Mayo has to offer and I look forward to welcoming everyone to Westport next year.”

The IGTOA National Golf Tourism Conference and Gala Irish Golf Awards is the largest gathering of golf tourism industry professionals across the island of Ireland and it will also attract delegates to the North West of Ireland from Europe and North America in October 2014.
