Three sporting clubs in the Foxford area have joined forces to stage a fantastic night of white collar boxing. Knockmore /Foxford boxing club, Moy Davitts (GAA ), and Straide and Foxford United (soccer ) will put on an exhibition of boxing that is certain to entertain the large attendance expected as ticket sales are soaring at present. Under strict coaching by the KFC boxing coaches the participants are almost fully prepared to step between the ropes for the first time in competition this Sunday October 27 in Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre.
The first bout will commence at 8pm sharp and a full contingent of contests will be on the programme, including three female contests. On the female line up Paula Browne, Catherine Gaughan, Niamh Walsh, Christine Dockery, and sisters Grainne and Olivia O’Boyle will step between the ropes for the first time in competition.
Some of the 20 entrants into the white collar event have gone far beyond the call of duty to attend training and be well prepared for a night they will never forget.
The Knockmore/Foxford boxing club is extremely grateful to 2011 European Bronze medal winner and 10 time National champion Lauragh O’Neill formerly from the Paulstown boxing club in Killkenny and now training in Foxford. Ger Gaughan from G and G fitness has been extremely helpful throughout the seven weeks of training helping getting all involved into top shape. The Knockmore/boxing club coaches Michael and David Langan hope all the boxers involved enjoy themselves, perform to their maximum capability but also remember it is a fun occasion.
