The Mayo county board confirmed on Wednesday evening that James Horan has pledged his future to the Mayo senior team for next season. The Ballintubber clubman held his second meeting with county board officials in eight days on Wednesday night. Speculation that there would be a shake-up in the management backroom team was confirmed with the news that James Nallen would not be part of the setup next year. The Crossmolina man had been part of Horan's management teams since he was appointed to the role in October 2010.
In a statement released by the county board Horan said that speculation around his position after the All Ireland final was “pure nonsense” and that in looking forward to next season, “nothing has changed, the ambition of this squad is to win an All-Ireland and that is an ambition that drives us all."
As for replacing Nallen on the management ticket Horan is quoted as saying, “Replacing a real legend in Mayo football won't be easy. I've met a few people but it's too early to announce anything.”
