Ballinrobe Community Development Council has issued an appeal to the local community to shop local this Christmas. “In these difficult times, it is important that we support our own retailers, manufacturers and service-providers,” a CDC statement issued last week read.
“We are lucky that in Ballinrobe we have such a wide range of goods and services available on our doorstep and it is important that we support these local enterprises in order to ensure that they remain viable and continue to enhance our community.” The statement pointed out that it is in everyone’s interest to keep the town “thriving”.
“Not everything required by shoppers will be available locally, but we would encourage people to buy whatever they can in their hometown. The business people of Ballinrobe have undertaken an excellent Christmas promotion that offers something back to customers, and it is in all our interests to make this a success. It is important that we do everything we can to keep our town thriving in spite of the gloomy economic outlook,” the statement concluded.
