For two nights only, Ballina Arts Centre will host John Breen’s contemporary Irish classic rugby play Alone It Stands on Tuesday, October 29th and Wednesday, October 30, at 8pm.
This now legendary story set on October 31 in 1978 when Munster Rugby played the mighty All Blacks – in a David v Goliath scenario played out in Thomond Park – Munster Rugby served up one of the sporting stories of the century when they played like their lives depended on it and beat the All Blacks 12-0. With mesmeric ensemble playing – six actors recreate 62 roles in re-telling this story that inspires and perspires in the same evening!
Ballina’s very own Yew Tree Theatre Company first produced the play in 1999 – with one of its first performances held at Ballina Rugby Club in September of that year – and it has since gone on to be one of the most successful and critically-acclaimed Irish plays of the last fifteen years.
Admission: €18/€15. More information and booking from Ballina Arts Centre, Tel: 096 73593 or e-mail: [email protected].
