Enda Kenny to raise Dáil question about Tourmakeady school

Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny TD is to raise the question of the requirement for a preparation room for science experiments being made available in Coláiste Muire, Tourmakeady.

Deputy Kenny, who has seen and read an engineering report indicating the difficulties that arise and present themselves because of inadequate facilities in the school at the moment, said that: “The situation here is not adequate or appropriate. Students have access to potentially serious chemicals and while the situation has always been monitored, it is not appropriate in current-day circumstances. The school authorities have submitted a request to the Department of Education and Science for the preparation of a proper pre science experiment room and the Minister for Education should have the request granted forthwith. Otherwise future claims can be taken against the department.”
