Once ipon a time in a place not too far away, the enchanted folk of Panto Land decided to share with mortals their tales of heroes, villains, magic castles and princesses. After consideration, it was agreed to entrust the not too fairy-like Castlebar Pantomime with their treasured tales. For it was agreed that the enthusiasm shown by these mere mortals within Mayo to annually reproduce the tales of Panto Land deserved the support of these enchanted folk.
As in years gone by, as their 2009 production draws ever closer, the good people of panto land have overseen the efforts of Castlebar Pantomime. This year, to re-tell the story of Puss in Boots as he restores his master’s fortunes in the Land of Arcadia, they magically gathered the largest chorus seen to date on a Castlebar panto stage, along with fresh new acting and singing talents of many first time principal actors. These wise panto folk also knew the best production team to bring together with director Princess Sharon Lavelle from the Land of Imagination, Assistant Director Baron Tony Varley from Covey Land, Duke John Flatley from the Land of Harmonies and Prince Jason Guthrie from the Land of Twinkletoes. Not forgetting the Lords and Ladies of Castlebar Pantomime Committee who happily reside in the Land of It’s-Hard-Work-But-We-Love-It.
Being forward thinking Panto Landers, the enchanted folk also ensured a venue, this year from January 15 to 18 courtesy of King Pat of Entertainment Land, who had recently transformed his own Royal Ballroom into the majestic Royal Theatre within Castlebar. For those mortals who wish to see the tale of Puss in Boots the Panto Land folk have advised to call to ye olde gramophone /ticket outlet or to use the magical line to the Royal Box Office 0818 300300 to book tickets. They would also like to suggest that these perchance could be used as Christmas gifts! However you get to go to Puss in Boots, do not forget, that flicker of light or brief shadow could just be the magic folk of Panto Land.
