The news that the day care service at Swinford District Hospital is to resume, initially on a part time basis, was welcomed by Mayo TD John O’Mahony. The service was due to commence earlier this month but due to staffing issues it was postponed until later this month.
Deputy O’Mahony said that he had been working on the issue for some time and he paid tribute to both the staff at the Swinford District Hospital and the HSE management for the roles they played in re-introducing the service to the hospital.
“This service is hugely important to those that use it on a daily basis and its re-opening is great news for those people. I understand that the service caters for over 40 people and this development is great for them and their families. The service will resume on Thursday and Friday of next week, September 26 and 27, and for three days per week for the following fortnight before then returning to a full five day service,” he said.
