Woman stole money from family business

A woman who stole money from a family business was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday.

On November 3 2012 Gerry McGuire, who owns a store on O’Rahilly Street in Ballina, noticed that there was a €35 discrepancy in the till. CCTV captured Katie McGuire, Bohernasup, Ballina, taking the money at 1.45am that day.

It transpired that €210 had also been taken at another time from the float in the shop by the 22-year-old. The defendant was co-operative with gardaí .

Solicitor for the defendant, John Gordon said that the woman had been going through a bad time in her life at that stage.

Judge Mary Devins adjourned the case to November 12 for a probation report.
