Westport continued its success at the National Tidy Towns competition, the winners of which were announced on Monday at an awards ceremony in Dublin.
Westport was awarded another gold medal and scored 314 points, up three points on its 2012 score. Westport was also the regional award winner for the west and the county award winner for Mayo.
Murrisk (306 ) won a silver medal and Belmullet (301 ) and Castlebar (293 ) were awarded a bronze medal.
Mulranny, Murrisk and Westport have been shortlisted for the Tourism Town awards; the results of which will be announced in November.
Kilmaine was the winner of the Mayo Endeavour award.
Overall Moynalty in County Meath was named the best of the 832 towns and villages that entered this year’s SuperValu National Tidy Towns competition.
