Festival of the Pirate Queen

Come to Louisburgh on Saturday September 14 for the Festival of the Pirate Queen.

Listen to the wonders of the Pirate Queen in a talk by Fr Padraig O’Maille in the morning or visit the Granuaile centre which will be open for the festival. You may wish to take the wonderful foraging walk that is led by local expert Will Williams. Come prepared and bring a packed lunch.

Local restaurants, pubs, shops and food stalls will be participating in the festival. The food will reflect the food eaten by the Pirate Queeen herself—from the land and sea around Clew Bay and is brought to you at especially great value.

Pirates, queens, knights, and warriors will be here in numbers to celebrate the festival and the Pirate Queen. At the ceile in the evening from 8pm there will be prizes for the best costumes. To help prepare there will be a costume making session in Louisbugh HQ from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday September 8.

If you wish to sell or buy any art, Louisburgh HQ will have a wonderful array of pictures and art to sell. If you are willing to share your musical or other talent there will be an open microphone and an audience from 5pm or visit the craft shop and meet Beth Moran from Clare Island who will demonstrate the craft of weaving.

For further information in relation to the Festival of the Pirate Queen and all of the activities contact Louisburgh HQ at 087 690 1727.
