Network Mayo, the leading business organisation for women in business, the professions, and the arts is delighted to announce renowned media business woman Norah Casey as the guest speaker at its autumn business lunch.
Having travelled a varied and interesting career path which now focuses on the world of publishing, TV, and radio presenting, Ms Casey’s personal and business story is compelling.
The event takes place on Thursday September 26 in Hotel Westport and both members and non-members (male and female ) are welcome to attend and enjoy what promises to be an inspiring talk by one of Ireland’s leading business women. The event will commence with a drinks reception, followed by lunch, and there will be ample opportunity to network and make new business contacts.
Julia Lynes, Network Ireland president, will be a guest at the event. Ms Lynes is director of EazyCity, a company she founded after graduating from university in 2004. EazyCork was established to provide people moving to Cork city for work or study with flexible accommodation services. It now also offers a range of complementary services such as English language courses, translation services, work experience placements, job interview training, and au pair placements. Under Ms Lynes’ direction the company has successfully grown year on year. She is responsible for managing the business on a strategic level and has been overseeing its expansion in Ireland and the UK. A Dublin branch was opened in 2008 and the “Eazy” brand was introduced to London in 2011.
Norah Casey’s public image quickly grew during and since her time as a cragon on RTE’s Dragons’ Den in 2011 and 2012. She is a regular contributor to current affairs and women's programmes. She co-anchored on Newstalk Breakfast with Chris Donoghue and was the co-presenter on RTE’s Today show on Fridays with Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh.
She is CEO and owner of Harmonia, Ireland’s largest magazine company, printing more than four million magazines annually for the Irish, British, and US markets and more recently in China. Harmonia’s stable includes strong women’s brands such as Irish Tatler, U, and Woman’s Way, and specialist titles such as Food & Wine, CookBook, Eat Out, Auto Ireland, and Ireland of the Welcomes.
A journalist and former nurse, Ms Casey is a member of the London-based Women’s Irish Network and The International Women’s Forum. She was awarded The Veuve Clicquot Business Women of the Year Award for 2007/8 and has won The Publisher of the Year Award no fewer than four times.
She recently presented The Takeover on RTÉ 2 which featured prominent Mayo businesses Eddie Murphy Menswear, Ballyhaunis, and The Clewbay Hotel, Westport.
