Mayo will be well represented in Croke Park this coming Sunday. Not only will the minor and senior footballers battle it out for a place in the All-Ireland final, but some of the county’s top singers will entertain the huge crowds expected to flock to the home of the GAA.
The Aghamore GAA Club ballad group who took top honours in the All-Ireland final of Scór na nÓg this year will sing two songs during the half time interval in the minor clash between Mayo and Monaghan.
The group consists of Sinead Nyland, Michaela Durkin, Deirdre Durkin, Meadhbh Glavey, and Mairead Mooney. Their coach is Ellen Hynes. They will sing ‘Carrick Reade’ and ‘Cad é sin’.
Gerard Bourke, the county Scór officer, commented: “This is a great honour for Aghamore Club and great recognition of the work being done by the county Scór committee at club and county level.” He went on to congratulate Ellen Hynes on this marvellous achievement and wished them well on the day.
