Mayo non-profits encouraged to apply for €125,000 Coca Cola fund

Non-profit organisations in Mayo are reminded to apply to the €125,000 Coca-Cola Thank You Fund before the July 19 closing date. The fund is supporting non-profits which promote balanced, healthy and active living in local communities on the island of Ireland, including sports clubs. Organisations are urged to apply for funding for projects that take an innovative approach to promoting fitness and nutrition. One organisation will received €25,000 and 10 others will receive €10,000 each.

The fund has been in existence for three years, and has supported organisations like the Ballyduff Football Club in Co Waterford and the Ballina Boxing Club in Co Mayo. Another sports organisation, the Irish Olympic Handball Association, received €25,000 last year. The Cois Ceim Dance Theatre also received a grant for promoting activity in the Dublin community where it is based. This is the first year that projects supporting good nutrition are being invited to apply to the fund.

Encouraging people to log onto the website to apply for funding, Erica Roseingrave, public affairs and communications manager, Coca-Cola HBC Ireland said: “We are keen to support projects that are new and take an innovative approach, and will engage people who may not be involved in sports and other activity-based hobbies at the moment as well as those that seek to highlight the importance of a balanced diet. The fund also aims to recognise the enormous contribution made by organisers and volunteers each week across the country through worthwhile initiatives, and to maximise the effectiveness of their work through targeted financial support from Coca-Cola.”
