The Ballyhaunis Family Resource Centre has been awarded €8,000 in funding as part of the Ulster Bank Community Impact Fund. Launched in February, in association with the Community Foundation for Ireland, voluntary and community organisations were invited to submit applications for funding.
Twenty-five organisations across the island of Ireland received a total of €290,000 in funding. The grants will support the development of local enterprise activity, financial education and financial inclusion initiatives in communities throughout Ireland.
The Ballyhaunis Family Resource Centre was awarded €8,000 from the Ulster Bank Community Impact Fund. It will use this money to develop workshops and practical hands-on activities to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining control over money, the knowledge and skills required for effective management of money and the skills to establish and maintain an effective home money management system. The programme will be available to asylum seekers, members of the international community, single and widowed men and families who have experienced unemployment and a dramatic reduction in their family finances.
Commenting on the announcement, David Thomas, managing director of Ulster Bank’s corporate banking division, said: “Social entrepreneurship and community organisations create the backbone of Irish communities. The Ulster Bank Community Impact Fund gives local community organisations a welcome boost by supporting their work in enterprise creation, financial education and financial inclusion activities. I am delighted to announce funding to 25 deserving organisations.”
