Five medals coming home to Mayo from EU Championships
Five of the six female Mayo boxers who were in Hungary this week for the EU Championships will be bringing medals back home with them this weekend.
On Thursday afternoon Jacqui Lynch (Golden Gloves ), Ciara Sheedy (Swinford BC ), Grainne Gavin (Castlebar BC ), and Ciara Ginty (Geesala BC ) were all in semi-final action, having guaranteed themselves at least a bronze medal from the championships.
Earlier in the week Cathy Higgins (Ardnaree BC ) lost out in her semi-final to Polish boxer Elizabeta Woyclick, but was able to console herself with her bronze medal for her efforts. The other Mayo boxer in the team Lycia Heneghan was unfortunate to lose out at the quarter-final stages of her division.
