Sinn Féin councillor Thérèse Ruane is urging people to check their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC ) and make sure it is not out of date before they travel this summer.
Cllr Ruane said: “The card, which is free, entitles people to health care in the EU and Iceland, Switzerland and Norway. Anyone living in Ireland can apply for the EHIC from the Health Service Executive which promises that you will have it in 10 working days. You can apply online at www.hse.ie or at your local HSE office.”
